BasedApp Discloses Breach Exposing KYC Data and Wallet Addresses
The crypto card platform said an unauthorized party accessed its internal operations system, exposing customers’ identity and contact information.

BasedApp disclosed a data breach in which an unauthorized party accessed its internal operations system and exposed customer KYC information linked to wallet addresses.
The exposed records included names, birth dates, nationalities, physical addresses, passport or Singapore national identification numbers, email addresses and phone numbers. The information was associated with customers’ wallet addresses, linking identity details with blockchain accounts.
KYC, or know-your-customer, data is collected to verify a user’s identity when opening or using a financial account. The disclosure identifies the affected information but does not provide the number of customers involved or indicate that customer funds were accessed.
BasedApp operates a crypto card platform that connects user identity information with wallet activity. The breach makes the exposed records relevant beyond ordinary contact-data loss because wallet addresses can be publicly traceable on blockchains.
