Taiko executed Proposal 39 on Ethereum layer 1 and Taiko layer 2 at 6:52 a.m. ET (10:52 UTC) Thursday, upgrading the network’s bridge with new approval and contract features.

The bridge’s ERC20Vault now supports Permit and Permit2. Users can bridge tokens without submitting a separate approval transaction, reducing one step in the transfer process.

The upgrade also raised the gas limit for Ether (ETH) payments on the bridge. A new BridgedERC20V2 contract template was deployed on both Ethereum and Taiko.

End-to-end testing covered ETH, ERC20, ERC721 and ERC1155 assets, including transfers in both directions. Proposal 39 also completed the community veto period before execution.
