OpenAI Rolls Out GPT-6.1 Sol Ultrafast Mode at Up to 8x Speed
The mode is launching across the API, Codex and ChatGPT Work, with API pricing set at $12 per million input tokens and $60 per million output tokens.

OpenAI is rolling out an Ultrafast mode for GPT-6.1 Sol across its API, Codex and ChatGPT Work products, promising speeds of up to eight times the model’s standard mode for users who need lower latency.
The mode offers intelligence close to GPT-6 Astra while running at a substantially higher speed than GPT-6.1 Sol Standard. The rollout is beginning Thursday across the three products.
API customers will pay $12 per million input tokens and $60 per million output tokens. Those rates are 1.2 times the pricing for GPT-6 Astra, making Ultrafast a premium option for applications where response time is a priority.
Access in Codex and ChatGPT Work is restricted to Pro 500 users, eligible usage-based Enterprise plans and credit-based Edu plans. The availability rules limit the initial release to selected paid users rather than making the mode broadly available.
The launch gives developers and professional users a faster GPT-6.1 Sol option while preserving the model’s positioning as a near-Astra alternative.
