An Ethereum developer has submitted a recursive proof proposal that could let nodes verify valid execution from a weak-subjectivity checkpoint through the chain head with one proof.

The draft, submitted by developer frisitano, covers execution payloads between an originating beacon block and a beacon-chain head block. It is designed to connect those payloads to the beacon chain while preserving their validity across the covered range.

The proof uses a recursive structure. Each new proof verifies the complete execution-payload proof from the preceding step and adds one additional execution payload.

Its public inputs include the roots of the head and originating beacon blocks, the chain ID and the version of the stateless-input format. Nodes could use those inputs to start at a weak-subjectivity checkpoint and verify valid execution through the chain head with a single proof.

The proposal is still in draft form.
