A cryptocurrency supply-chain attack involving Ledger has been linked to the loss of 213.42 Bitcoin (BTC), valued at about $17.7 million.

About 92% of the affected BTC entered the wallets less than 90 days ago. The remainder had been transferred earlier, indicating that the funds were not all moved into the affected addresses during the same period.

None of the tracked Bitcoin had been spent at the latest count. The funds were held across three consolidation addresses, which are wallets used to gather assets from multiple transfers.

The incident highlights the exposure of crypto users to supply-chain attacks, in which malicious code or compromised software can affect users through a trusted product or distribution channel.
