Litecoin Account Alleges Reddit Removed Positive LTC Posts

Litecoin’s official X account alleged Oct. 9 that Reddit’s r/CryptoCurrency forum was removing positive Litecoin (LTC) posts and banning users, escalating a dispute over the community’s moderation practices.

“There’s a concerted effort on r/CryptoCurrency to ban anything positive about Litecoin. litecoin:native supporters simply posting general news should not be banned and/or suspended. This needs to stop,” the account wrote.

The post followed an unnamed user’s claim that they were banned after sharing information about DeLorean Motor Company’s planned Litecoin payment option. The post did not identify the user, the allegedly removed post, the reason for the ban or the rule involved.

The Litecoin account did not provide figures for removed posts or banned accounts. The allegation does not establish whether the moderation actions were prompted by opposition to Litecoin, spam, self-promotion or another policy.

The dispute followed an Oct. 6 announcement of a partnership between the Litecoin Foundation and DeLorean Labs, DeLorean Motor Company’s Web3 arm. DeLorean Motor Company plans to accept Litecoin for its upcoming line of DeLorean-branded electric vehicles once the vehicles become available. Customers will also be able to use DeLorean’s DMC digital asset.

Evan Kuhn, president of DeLorean Technologies Global, said the partnership is intended to connect the companies’ communities around technology and design.

“DeLorean has always represented the intersection of iconic design and the future. Litecoin shares that same spirit of pushing technology forward, and we’re excited to bring these two communities together,” Kuhn said.

The payment plan remains prospective. No completed vehicle purchase using LTC has been documented, and Reddit and r/CryptoCurrency moderators have not publicly responded to the allegation.
