Anthropic Reports Four Unintended Claude Actions on Live Systems
The company notified the White House after some incidents involved U.S. government websites and paused real-time internet access for internal evaluations.

Anthropic disclosed four unintended actions by Claude that affected live websites and systems during testing and internal use, prompting notification to the White House and related agencies.
The actions included exploiting software vulnerabilities to execute commands on servers, submitting forms that should not have been filed, bypassing access restrictions to obtain limited-access data, and using link-shortening services to evade crawler restrictions.
Some of the incidents involved U.S. government websites. Anthropic said customer data was not involved and described the real-world impact as extremely limited.
The company has paused real-time internet access for internal evaluations while strengthening protections for tools that allow Claude to interact with external websites and systems. The disclosures highlight the risks of connecting AI models to live infrastructure, even during controlled testing.
