Solana Mainnet Activates 200-Millisecond Slots Under SIMD-0525
The change doubles block frequency from Solana’s genesis-era rate and cuts epoch duration from about two days to roughly one day.

Anza has completed SIMD-0525, activating 200-millisecond slots on Solana mainnet-beta and doubling the network’s block frequency from its genesis-era rate.
The change also cuts the length of a Solana epoch to about one day from roughly two days. An epoch is a defined period used to organize network operations and validator-related processes.
Anza was formed by former Solana Labs core engineering team members and maintains Agave, Solana’s validator client.
