A fake Ledger website and app appeared at the top of Google search results as Ledger investigates a suspected $86 million wallet theft involving customers of Southeast Asian distributor CryptoBilis.

The site was designed to trick users into disclosing their 24-word recovery phrases, which can provide access to cryptocurrency wallets. It recorded more than 1 million visits during the past 30 days.

Ledger is investigating the suspected theft.

A September investigation also found malicious Google ads impersonating Ledger and directing users to a fake wallet-verification page, highlighting the role of search advertising in wallet-targeting scams.
