THORChain’s native token, RUNE, is now fully unlocked as its supply declines and the network directs most system revenue toward security and protocol-owned liquidity.

RUNE was initially issued with a supply of 1 billion, which later fell to 500 million.

THORChain’s revenue model directs 59% of system revenue to node operators. The revenue comes from fees paid on cross-chain swaps, while node operators bond RUNE to help secure the network.

Another 20% goes to protocol-owned liquidity. Every three days, RUNE is deposited into the liquidity pool with the highest fee-to-depth ratio. Half of that allocation remains in RUNE and is held by THORChain.
