DATA Network to Retire Standalone Blockchain in Move to Sui
Sui Foundation will invest $30 million and become DATA Network’s largest institutional holder. DATA tokens will migrate to Sui one-to-one.

DATA Network will retire its standalone blockchain and operate natively on Sui after a $30 million investment from Sui Foundation, reshaping the infrastructure behind its AI-training data platform.
Sui Foundation will become DATA Network’s largest institutional holder alongside PIP Labs and DATA Foundation. The existing DATA token will move to Sui on a one-to-one basis, while locked and vesting positions will carry over unchanged.
The network will continue operating until the upgrade is completed. A migration timeline and holder transition plan will be published before the upgrade begins, but no completion date has been announced.
DATA Foundation’s Trace registry will also join the Sui ecosystem. The registry records the origin and usage rights of AI-training data and has logged more than 250 million contributions since its June 2026 launch, processing more than 3 million receipts per day on average.
Walrus, Sui’s storage platform, will become the default storage layer for DATA Foundation applications. DATA Network and DATA Foundation were previously associated with the Story name before shifting their focus toward infrastructure for traceable AI-training data.
