Ledger issued a warning after assets linked to CryptoBilis-sold hardware wallets were drained in an Oct. 9 theft.

The company told buyers with unused devices not to initialize them. Customers already using a CryptoBilis-sold device should move their assets to a new Ledger device with a new recovery phrase, Ledger said.

An on-chain estimate put losses above $86 million across Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum and Tron. A review counted $93.2 million drained from 315 wallets across six blockchains, using prices from the morning of Oct. 9.

Ledger said every confirmed case involved devices sold through CryptoBilis. The company has not confirmed that tampering caused the losses, although it said one affected device “contained an unauthorized hardware implant.”

The drain began early Oct. 9, with about 203 BTC taken at 1:54:20 a.m. ET (05:54:20 UTC). Tether froze $10 million in USDT linked to the theft.

Ledger urged affected users to contact official support and warned that it never requests a 24-word recovery phrase through calls or direct messages.
