A fraudulent Shiba Inu (SHIB) airdrop promotion circulating on social media could expose users to wallet-draining activity, Shiba Eternity adviser Mazrael warned Oct. 12.

Mazrael urged users not to click or interact with the links, writing: “care. no such airdrop. this is a drainer. they are flooding time line recommend not click and report.”

The promotion allegedly sought to drive users to a link that could request harmful wallet actions, such as connecting a wallet, approving token spending or signing a malicious message. Wallet drainers use those actions to move assets without the user’s intended authorization.

No confirmed victims, stolen assets or verified on-chain activity were identified in connection with the campaign. The available information also does not identify a malicious website domain, contract address or code.

Shib.io is the Shiba Inu ecosystem website and includes a “Report a scam” function. Shiba Inu’s official account previously said unsolicited SHIB airdrop offers were scams.

Users should check airdrop announcements through official project channels before connecting a wallet, approving token spending or signing a transaction.
