t54 Documents x402 Payment Tools for AI Agents on XRP Ledger
The implementation supports XRP and Ripple USD (RLUSD) for machine-to-machine payments tied to APIs, data retrieval and AI inference.

t54 has documented tools for machine-to-machine payments on the XRP Ledger, allowing software agents to use XRP and Ripple USD (RLUSD) when accessing payment-gated online services.
The implementation supports the x402 payment standard, which uses the HTTP “402 Payment Required” status to deliver payment terms to a software client. The client can sign a cryptocurrency payment and retry its request after payment, removing the need for a human-operated checkout process.
The system is designed for programmatic payments tied to application programming interfaces, data retrieval and AI inference. On the XRP Ledger, the implementation uses presigned Payment transactions, while t54 maintains an XRPL x402 facilitator and separate workflows for RLUSD.
The company’s related Trustline and X402 Secure products add identity checks, authorization, risk screening and evidence records around agent transactions. Those controls are intended to support automated payments where software must act within specified payment terms and access rules.
The development extends the XRP Ledger’s infrastructure for applications in which software initiates frequent, small-value payments. It also gives developers a way to connect online services with crypto settlement without requiring each transaction to pass through a conventional user interface.
“We support t54's efforts to build the identity and risk capabilities that will be foundational as AI agents operate across payments, treasury, and capital markets,” said Markus Infanger, senior vice president at RippleX.
The XRPL tooling supports XRP and RLUSD as settlement assets for services that adopt the x402 payment flow. No broader measure of AI-agent adoption across the XRP Ledger is established by the implementation itself.
