AI Reverse-Engineering Toolkit Surpasses 100,000 GitHub Stars
REA connects coding agents with tools for examining binaries, applications and websites, while separate project ArtCraft offers open-source creative software without a subscription.

REA, an open-source toolkit for connecting coding agents with reverse-engineering tools, surpassed 100,000 GitHub stars during the week ending Oct. 12, 2026.
The project, whose name stands for “Reverse Engineer Anything,” uses the Model Context Protocol to link coding agents with tools that examine native binaries, JavaScript and Electron applications, .NET assemblies and websites. It returns findings with evidence and stated limitations.
REA can help an agent study how software behaves, explain those findings or develop a compatible implementation. The process does not recover the original source code.
The toolkit supports Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Grok Build and other coding agents. Targets are analyzed locally, while information received by the agent remains subject to the model provider’s data policy.
REA’s examples include analysis of Chrome’s dinosaur game and Windows Calculator. The demonstrations reconstruct rules such as how the game’s speed changes and how percentage calculations work.
Deep analysis of native software requires tools such as Hopper, Ghidra or IDA. Some JavaScript and .NET analysis can be performed without a native analysis engine.
The project uses the MIT License, while third-party materials retain their own licenses and copyright notices. Its stated uses include lawful research, education, interoperability, software preservation and analysis of software that users own or are authorized to examine.
The toolkit’s capabilities do not establish that it produced ports or decompiled versions of commercial games such as Grand Theft Auto V or Fable 2. The legal status of any particular software recreation depends on the program involved, applicable licenses, jurisdiction and distribution method.
A separate open-source project, ArtCraft, offers creative tools for macOS, Windows and the web without requiring a subscription. Its suite includes PhotoCraft, VectorCraft, FilmCraft, LightCraft, PdfCraft, EffectCraft, DesignCraft, WordCraft, SoundCraft, DeckCraft, CADCraft and GridCraft.
ArtCraft’s studio is available through GitHub for users to read, fork, download or use in a browser. The available materials do not establish that ArtCraft was built with REA or that it is a clean-room recreation of Adobe products.
The projects address different areas: REA focuses on reverse-engineering workflows, while ArtCraft provides open-source creative software.
