Ontology resumed block production at about 5:57 a.m. ET (09:57 UTC) on Oct. 12 after halting its mainnet for roughly 41 hours over a security incident involving an unidentified ecosystem project.

The pause began at about 12:43 p.m. ET (16:43 UTC) on Oct. 10, when Ontology coordinated with most of its consensus nodes to stop new blocks after receiving an urgent security report.

Ontology said its core infrastructure remained safe and that no funds were lost from the network itself. It did not identify the project involved, describe the vulnerability or disclose whether the affected project or its users suffered losses.

Bitget and South Korean exchange Coinone suspended deposits and withdrawals involving Ontology-network assets while the mainnet was offline.

The incident follows another Ontology mainnet pause in late August after the team identified malicious activity and completed a software upgrade. Ontology said user assets were not compromised in that incident.
