MediaMarktSaturn Pulls Ledger Products Amid Tampering Probe
The retailer removed Ledger devices from stores and its online platform while contacting the manufacturer about reports of unauthorized hardware implants.

MediaMarktSaturn has removed all Ledger products from its stores and online platform while investigating reports that the hardware wallets may have been altered with unauthorized components.
The European electronics retailer said it is contacting Ledger and is treating the matter seriously. The move follows claims involving devices purchased at two separate MediaMarkt locations.
X user Johannes said two Ledger wallets he bought contained unauthorized cables and cellular modules. Ledger said such implants can transmit users’ recovery phrases over cellular networks and that it is investigating reports beyond the CryptoBilis case.
Former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpelès also said a Ledger Flex he bought at an airport in Singapore contained a spy implant. Ledger directed users to its latest CryptoBilis investigation update but did not directly address the Singapore case or confirm whether tampered devices had been found in Europe.
MediaMarktSaturn’s product removal puts the focus on whether the reported devices were isolated cases or part of a broader supply-chain problem. The retailer’s investigation and Ledger’s review are ongoing.
