MediaMarktSaturn has removed Ledger hardware wallets from its stores and online platforms while Ledger investigates reports of tampered devices, widening security concerns beyond a Southeast Asian reseller case.

The retailer said it pulled all Ledger products and is in contact with the manufacturer. It described the incident as serious.

Ledger said Tuesday it is investigating reports beyond CryptoBilis, a reseller linked to losses involving devices sold in Southeast Asia. The investigation centers on unauthorized implants that transmitted users’ recovery phrases over cellular networks.

An X user identified as Johannes claimed Monday that two Ledger wallets bought at separate MediaMarkt stores contained unauthorized cables and cellular modules. Former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpelès separately said a Ledger Flex purchased at Singapore’s airport contained a spying implant.

Ledger directed questions about the Singapore device to its latest CryptoBilis investigation update and did not directly address that case. The company’s investigation remains ongoing.
