S&P completed its first on-chain derivatives swap on the Canton blockchain on Oct. 13, with Marex and DRW participating in the transaction.

The transaction puts a derivatives swap on Canton, a blockchain network developed for institutional use cases. The transaction provides a documented example of institutional derivatives activity on Canton.

Canton was developed by Digital Asset with a focus on configurable privacy, a feature intended to support transactions that require controlled access to information. Digital Asset completed a $135 million financing round in June 2025, with DRW Venture Capital and Tradeweb leading the investment.

The transaction highlights Canton’s configurable-privacy design in an institutional derivatives use case.
