Ledger Suspends German Retail Sales During Wallet Implant Probe
The pause covers MediaMarkt and Saturn stores and online sales after one customer alleged a device implant.

Ledger suspended sales of its hardware wallets at MediaMarkt and Saturn stores and online in Germany on Oct. 13 while investigating a customer’s allegation that a device contained an implant.
Ledger said the case has not been linked to lost customer funds or a compromise of its infrastructure, systems or services. Its Donjon security team is examining devices submitted for inspection, while customer-support staff review related reports.
The company has not disclosed how many devices may require examination or when German retail sales will resume. The suspension covers both physical stores and online purchases through the two retailers.
The investigation follows separate reports involving modified Ledger devices sold through CryptoBilis, where cryptocurrency theft was reported. Ledger has not confirmed whether the German case is connected to those devices, and the German wallet model, purchase location and modification method have not been identified publicly.
