Celo Core Co. Launches buy Marketplace for AI Agent Payments

Celo Core Co. has launched buy, a marketplace that lets AI agents purchase computing, data and application programming interface services directly from wallets on the Celo network.

The marketplace lists more than 700 services. Agents can pay with USD Coin (USDC), USD₮ or USA₮ without a human creating an account, copying an API key or maintaining a subscription. Chainstack, Cencori and SQD are among the launch partners.

Celo is an Ethereum Layer 2 network built for fast, sub-cent transactions. The three supported stablecoins can also cover native transaction fees on Celo, removing the need for a separate gas token. Payments can be completed within seconds using stablecoins already held by an agent’s owner.

buy integrates Self, a proof-of-human and identity system for agent-based services. The integration links an agent’s signing key to a zero-knowledge proof confirming that one real, unique human stands behind it.

Some services can require that verification before providing access. Google Cloud’s largest machines, for example, are available only to agents that can present a Self proof confirming that a real, verified adult is behind the request.

“Agents have been held back because most tools are built for humans: accounts, API keys, subscriptions,” Lena Hierzi, Celo Core Co.’s developer relations lead, said. “buy removes those steps by letting agents pay per request in stablecoins on Celo, which makes them assistants that can act instead of just suggest.”

Celo Core Co. formed in July 2026 through the alignment of the Celo Foundation and cLabs while retaining community governance of the network. Celo had more than 450,000 daily active users as of Sept. 16.

buy joins Celo Core Co.’s other agent-focused products, including AskBots, where AI agents review builders’ work for payment, and a native facilitator for the x402 and MPP payment protocols.

Developers can add buy to an agent toolchain for Claude Code or Codex with npm i -g @celo/buy. The full service catalog is available through usebuy.ai.
