Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark is scheduled to discuss how artificial intelligence could affect economic activity and daily life at the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok on Oct. 17.

Clark will deliver the Per Jacobsson Foundation Lecture, titled “Inside the Event Horizon: Why Everyone Should Take AI Progress Seriously.” The session will examine AI’s potential effects on scientific discovery, productivity, employment, robotics and machine-driven businesses.

The discussion also will consider whether AI could contribute to the development of successor systems, bringing the subject into an international economic-policy forum. Raghuram Rajan, chair of the Per Jacobsson Foundation, is scheduled to moderate, with V. Anantha Nageswaran and Yan Shen listed as discussants.

The event schedule places the lecture on Oct. 17 during the annual meetings, which run from Oct. 12 through Oct. 18. The published schedule does not establish a time zone for the session.

Anthropic’s measurement of its own AI research and development work found that Claude led 26% of the work in August, up from below 1% in February. The measurement covered about 15,000 granular tasks from work performed in July.

More than 90% of the measured work was at or above the company’s “AI collaborates” level. Claude was not fully autonomous for any measured subset of the work.

The lecture follows earlier calls for greater transparency around automated AI research that included Clark among AI research leaders. The IMF–World Bank meetings continue through Oct. 18 in Bangkok.
