Injective Proposal Would Set Fixed Gas for Selected Exchange Messages

Proposal 709 would make gas requirements more predictable for orders, cancellations and transfers while leaving trading fees unchanged.

Injective governance Proposal 709 would enable fixed gas requirements for selected exchange-module messages, making transaction preparation more predictable for integrators and market makers.

The proposal would set the exchange parameter fixed_gas_enabled to true. The feature has operated on Injective’s testnet since July 2026 but remains disabled on mainnet pending the governance process.

Covered messages include order placement, order cancellations, deposits, withdrawals and subaccount transfers. Injective’s API lists fixed requirements of 120,000 gas for derivative limit orders, 70,000 gas for derivative-order cancellations and 70,000 gas for subaccount transfers.

A separate gas-heuristics listing shows 240,000 gas wanted for a single derivative limit-order transaction when estimated transaction overhead is included. The figures appear to reflect different measurement scopes, and the final amount for the proposed mainnet configuration is not specified.

Gas represents the computational resources needed to process a blockchain transaction. Injective calculates transaction fees from the gas requirement and gas price, with a listed minimum gas price of 160,000,000 INJ units.

The change could make fee modeling and transaction preparation easier by allowing integrators and market makers to use published requirements for supported messages instead of estimating gas for each transaction. It would not eliminate transaction costs.

Injective’s documentation lists global minimum trading fees of 0.1% for makers and 0.2% for takers. Those charges are separate from gas fees.

Injective’s revised gas pricing brought a typical transaction cost to about 0.00001 INJ, or $0.0003 at the time. Proposal 709 does not change the trading-fee rates or make transactions free.

The proposal’s governance vote has no confirmed opening time, closing time or final result in the available information. Mainnet activation has not been confirmed.
