Nvidia Expands ChipAgents Partnership on AI Chip Design
The work combines ChipAgents’ Renoir system with Nvidia software and computing infrastructure. The system is designed to help with chip design and verification.

Nvidia and ChipAgents are expanding work on AI tools for semiconductor engineering, combining ChipAgents’ Renoir system with Nvidia software and computing infrastructure to support chip design and verification.
Announced July 26, the expanded work will develop AI agents to assist with designing and verifying chips. ChipAgents designed Renoir for tasks such as generating register-transfer-level code, debugging designs and creating tests.
Renoir can run on a company’s own infrastructure, an option aimed at businesses seeking to keep sensitive design files and intellectual property in their own environments. Customer agreements and explicit approval govern whether ChipAgents can use customer data to customize or improve Renoir.
ChipAgents introduced Renoir in June. In early company-run chip-design tests, ChipAgents said Renoir came close to Claude Opus 4.6 and reduced costs by over 50%.
Da Yang, Nvidia’s senior director of product for semiconductor and EDA, described AI agents as “becoming a new class of digital workers” that can help engineers reason through complex systems and accelerate innovation. The collaboration announcement reported no independent evaluation results or measured productivity gains.
