Pi Network Schedules Protocol 28 Mainnet Upgrade for Oct. 16

Node operators had an Oct. 13 software deadline. The upgrade covers transaction-data handling and developer tools.

Pi Network has scheduled its Protocol 28 Mainnet upgrade for Oct. 16, 2026, following an Oct. 13, 2026, software deadline for node operators, as the network prepares changes to transaction-data handling and developer tools.

The upgrade is intended to improve how the network handles delays in transaction data, allow groups of smart contracts to be upgraded together and make changes to stored application data more safely. The transition remains scheduled; no activation time was announced.

Pi Network has not announced a price target or said the changes would increase demand for Pi (PI).
