Amazon Prices Alexa Tablet 12 Pro Above Apple’s Entry-Level iPad

Amazon introduced three Alexa tablets, including a Pro model priced above Apple’s entry-level iPad, as it expands Alexa+ features across its devices.

Amazon shares fell 1.94% to $253.57 in intraday trading. The Alexa Tablet 8 costs $229.99, the Alexa Tablet 11 is priced at $329.99 and the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro starts at $499.99. A Nanomatte version of the Pro costs $549.99.

The Pro’s starting price is $50 above Apple’s $449 entry-level iPad. Amazon’s new tablets run Google’s Android operating system and provide access to the Google Play Store. Earlier Fire tablets relied mainly on Amazon’s own app store.

The devices also have improved processors, upgraded displays and aluminum bodies. Alexa+ can control smart home devices, provide information and continue conversations without users repeating the wake word. Amazon includes Alexa+ with Prime memberships or offers it separately for $20 per month.
