DOE Plans $581 Million TVA Grid Award Across Eight States
The 84 projects are expected to add about 2.5 gigawatts of grid capacity. Funding and schedules remain subject to agreements and reviews.

The U.S. Department of Energy plans a $581 million award for 84 Tennessee Valley Authority transmission and distribution projects across eight states, with the work expected to add about 2.5 gigawatts of grid capacity.
The planned award combines $250 million in federal funding and about $331 million in applicant cost-share funding. The projects are expected to support about 800 jobs and serve 2.58 million families and businesses.
The initiative is part of Resilience Amplified, under the Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships program. Final funding, project scope and schedules depend on executed agreements and environmental, permitting, regulatory and Tribal reviews.
Separately, TVA plans to modernize roughly 125 miles of transmission lines through its previously selected SPARK project, spanning Tennessee, Alabama and North Carolina. The project is listed at $159.7 million and is expected to add 1,900 megawatts of transmission capacity.
Combined, the two projects involve nearly $741 million in planned investment and are projected to increase capacity by more than 4,300 megawatts.
