CedarDB’s database engine supports transaction processing and analytics, and the German company is planning a fully managed cloud service to make the system available through a hosted offering.

The service is planned to run initially on Amazon Web Services, with availability planned for Europe and the United States. CedarDB’s cloud page currently invites prospective users to join a waitlist; broad access has not been established.

The engine is compatible with PostgreSQL tools and interfaces. Its software grew out of Umbra, a research project, and supports transactional guarantees alongside analytical processing. The free Community Edition has a maximum data-set size of 64 GiB.

CedarDB announced a €5.3 million seed round in May 2025. Separately, Databricks announced an architecture on June 16, 2026, that combines transactional, analytical, streaming and operational data on one copy of storage.
