Starknet Opens Seven-Day Poll on Studying a Standalone Quantum-Resistant L1
The nonbinding poll gauges community interest; it does not approve a transition, and STRK would remain the network’s native token.

Starknet’s community has opened a seven-day, nonbinding poll asking STRK holders whether the network should study a move to an independent, quantum-resistant Layer 1 that could reduce its reliance on Ethereum.
It gauges community interest; it does not approve a network transition.
Starknet uses hash-based STARK proofs and native account abstraction. Its core protocol is quantum-resistant, and user accounts can adopt quantum-resistant signatures without a protocol upgrade. The network’s cross-chain bridge and data availability still rely on Ethereum, tying those components to Ethereum’s progress on quantum-resistant upgrades. A standalone network is being considered as a way to remove that dependency.
STRK would remain Starknet’s native token, and the Ethereum-to-Starknet bridge would stay open. The plan described in the poll does not include issuing a new token.
If holders support further study, the team will begin research and develop a detailed plan. If they do not, Starknet will continue work on quantum-resistant upgrades within its existing Layer 2 design.
