Several X accounts associated with Ireland’s national police appear to have been compromised and used to promote cryptocurrency, putting crypto promotions on profiles followed for official traffic and safety updates.

The accounts include @GardaTraffic, which has about 600,000 followers and continues to identify itself as belonging to An Garda Síochána, Ireland’s national police service. The profile carries traffic and road safety updates. A second account, @GardaInfo, has nearly 300,000 followers. It displays no personal information, although older posts from An Garda Síochána remain visible there.

The two profiles show different signs of possible unauthorized use: one still presents itself as a police account, while the other retains police posts without personal details. The promotion puts cryptocurrency material on accounts followed for public safety information. An Garda Síochána is Ireland’s national police service. The incident highlights the reach crypto-related posts can get when they appear on established public safety profiles online.
