Jensen Huang urged Nvidia to work with Chinese AI companies on safety discussions, arguing that cooperation could help address risks from a technology he described as potentially dangerous.

At a briefing in London, Huang said he has ongoing conversations with Chinese researchers, urged the United States to expand dialogue and said the United Kingdom could help convene discussions. “We absolutely should work with each other so that we advance the technology safely,” Huang said.

AI safety is also entering government discussions. In September, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent discussed a potential AI dialogue with Chinese counterpart He Lifeng, including a channel for incidents up to a national security level. Chinese President Xi Jinping said the countries could continue examining AI’s risks and benefits and work to prevent misuse.

Researchers from OpenAI and Anthropic have urged slower AI development and warned of existential risks. Sam Altman and Dario Amodei have called for greater regulation, while Huang has opposed broader rules.

Those discussions unfold alongside U.S. limits on Nvidia’s China business: proposed shipments remain subject to individual review and compliance conditions.
