Raytheon to Modernize U.S. Space Force Early-Warning Radar Sites
The program will deliver prototype solutions before rapid fielding at the remaining locations and help create a common open architecture.

Raytheon, an RTX business, was selected to modernize U.S. Space Force radar sites that detect missile launches and monitor objects and activity in space, systems that form the outermost layer of the nation’s missile-defense architecture.
The Ground-Based Radar Digitization program aims to improve the radars’ performance and reliability while supporting more advanced operations. It will deliver prototype solutions before transitioning to rapid fielding at the remaining locations.
Raytheon will work with the Space Force and industry to help create a common open architecture. The design is intended to make future upgrades easier and improve sustainment efficiency.
“Raytheon’s technical approach enables faster deployment of new capabilities,” said Sam Deneke, president of Air & Space Defense Systems at Raytheon.
