Circle Gateway has surpassed $10 billion in total transfer volume, marking a milestone for Circle’s effort to give businesses access to one USD Coin balance across multiple blockchains.

Businesses that use USD Coin (USDC) on several networks may otherwise need to keep separate balances on each one. Gateway is designed to make a unified balance available across supported chains.

To use the service, a user deposits USDC into a Gateway Wallet contract and signs a burn intent. The process mints USDC on a destination chain and burns an equal amount on the source chain.

Gateway is distinct from Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol, which moves USDC between blockchains. Circle launched Gateway on mainnet on Aug. 19, 2025, with Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum, OP Mainnet, Polygon PoS and Unichain supported at launch.
