Ledger’s $849 Atom Reservation Draws Criticism After Suspected $86M Losses
The Founders Edition requires a fully refundable $100 deposit, and Ledger plans to launch Atom in 2027.

Ledger’s $849 Atom reservation offer drew criticism on X on Oct. 15, days after Ledger linked a tampered reseller signer to more than $86 million in suspected crypto losses.
The Founders Edition has a reserve price of $849 and requires a fully refundable $100 deposit. Ledger’s earlier Atom announcement outlined plans for Android app support while keeping crypto signing separate. Atom remains in development, with its launch planned for 2027.
Ledger’s investigation into a tampered signer sold through CryptoBilis found an unauthorized implant that allegedly captured users’ 24-word recovery phrases during setup and sent them over LTE. A microcontroller in the implant recognized and decoded recovery phrases displayed during setup. A provisioned eSIM transmitted the information. A recovery phrase can restore a wallet and give control of its assets.
Ledger has tied the compromised signer to suspected losses exceeding $86 million.
