Zakura is targeting January to make its full-node software for Zcash quantum-resistant and reasonably resilient to AI-driven threats, setting a software milestone for the privacy network’s security work.

Zakura’s implementation runs a full node, software that checks transactions and helps keep the network operating. The January target applies to that software effort; it is not a stated date for activating a network-wide upgrade.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake have urged crypto projects to prepare for a possible “bunker mode” scenario. They warned that advances in artificial intelligence could threaten cryptographic protections before quantum computers become capable of doing so.
