Potential AI Alternatives Put Bitcoin Miner Incentives in Focus
Micah Warren discussed Bitcoin security through game theory, including miners’ options beyond mining and the risks of transaction censorship.

Bitcoin (BTC) security depends in part on miner incentives, an issue examined through game theory by Micah Warren, an associate professor of mathematics at the University of Oregon and author of Bitcoin: A Game-Theoretic Analysis.
Warren discussed why conventional chain reorganizations and double-spend attacks are unlikely today. The conversation also examined how miner incentives help support the network’s security.
One topic was artificial intelligence as an alternative miners could consider alongside Bitcoin mining. The discussion addressed that possibility without reporting a shift by miners into AI work.
Other subjects included feather forks, in which a minority of miners may try to censor transactions, and whether government stakes in mining companies could raise censorship concerns. The conversation also covered Treasury companies, North Korea and Iran, institutional demand for blacklisted versus clean Bitcoin, Bitcoin’s security budget and miner collusion as a major risk.
