Former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpelès said Ledger had received hardware-tampering reports since December 2025 but had not publicly warned users, raising concerns about how the company communicates device-security risks.

Karpelès urged Ledger to be more transparent and cited security researcher Joe Grand’s March 4, 2026, report about a compromised Ledger Nano X purchased through Lazada. Ledger acknowledged the issue but has not disclosed further details.

A separate security incident disclosed Oct. 9 involved devices sold by an authorized reseller.

TokenPost has previously covered Karpelès’ warning about altered Ledger devices and potential recovery-phrase exposure. He also published a public catalog of 14 devices classified as tampered or counterfeit, with entries naming seven sellers.
