An Android notification that seemed to come from SecuX’s wallet app linked Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz to a page requesting wallet recovery words, prompting a warning not to enter them.

In an Oct. 16 post, Schwartz said tapping the notice opened the wallet app as expected; later, he located it in Android’s notification history.

“The link goes to a scam page that asks you to input your 12/24 words. (NEVER DO THAT!)” Schwartz wrote.

A recovery phrase is a set of 12 or 24 words that can restore a wallet on compatible software or hardware. SecuX tells users to keep the words private and says, “We will never ask for your recovery words (seed phrase).”

Schwartz did not identify who sent the alert or establish a connection to SecuX’s systems. Earlier, impostor Ledger sites appeared in search results and solicited wallet recovery phrases.
