Solana (SOL) is scheduled to begin activating its Alpenglow consensus upgrade on mainnet with epoch 1064 on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026. The change targets faster transaction finality, the point when the network treats a transaction as settled.
Alpenglow aims to reduce finality from about 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds. That figure remains a protocol target and has not been demonstrated under full mainnet conditions, as covered in earlier Alpenglow testing.
