Qubic paused transactions after a theft drained about $1.3 million in QU from 1,404 wallets, with most of the tokens still held on the halted network.

The project put the amount taken at about 2.94 trillion QU. The unauthorized transfers took place from Oct. 17 to Oct. 18. Validators halted activity at tick 85,371,949 after the transfers, suspending transactions across the network.

Qubic traced the vulnerability to predictable wallet seeds generated on older Apple devices and in browsers. The flaw was fixed in version 4.26.4. Developers also protected other funds exposed to the same issue before attackers could move them.

About 87.1% of the stolen QU remains on Qubic's paused network. The other 12.9% was moved to MEXC, where it was frozen. Bitget also suspended QUBIC deposits and withdrawals, preventing customers from moving the asset through that exchange.

The Qubic Computor cluster will decide whether affected wallet holders receive compensation. QEARN staking was unaffected.
