Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin launched a privacy mode for his AI agent on Oct. 16. The privacy mode combines local software with zkAPI payments to obscure users’ identities, request origins and payment trails.

An OpenAI-compatible daemon combines zkAPI, Tor, traffic obfuscation and local prompt rewriting. The system also includes a wrapper for the pi agent framework. It accepts deposits in Ether (ETH) and USD Coin (USDC).

Buterin assessed the mode as usable, while noting that starting a new conversation is slow. Agents are also restricted to a software sandbox.
