OpenAI ChatGPT lead Tibo Sottiaux said in an X post that the company plans to bring its Dots AI agents to the European Union and let users keep using agents they created elsewhere after entering the bloc.

Dots are not currently available in the EU. Sottiaux did not provide a date for the launch.

The access adjustment is still in progress and is aimed at users who created a Dot outside the EU. They would retain the ability to use that agent after entering the region.

Sottiaux's post followed a user report that a Dot had stopped appearing in the Codex desktop app.

OpenAI introduced Dots as persistent AI agents for workplace tasks on Sept. 29. They can work in the background with limited day-to-day direction. Users can set custom rules, monitor activity and manage permissions, including approval requirements for some sensitive actions.
