MiniMax Launches M3.1 Flash, Confirms Space Bunny Was Preview

The preview appeared as Space Bunny Alpha on OpenRouter on Sept. 23 and led OpenCode’s daily token-usage ranking by Sept. 24.

MiniMax launched M3.1 Flash on Oct. 19 and confirmed that Space Bunny was an early version of the AI model, giving a name to a preview that had drawn substantial developer use.

The preview appeared on OpenRouter as Space Bunny Alpha on Sept. 23. By Sept. 24, Space Bunny held the top position in OpenCode’s daily token-usage ranking. Token usage measures the volume of tokens processed, rather than the number of calls made to a model.

MiniMax’s launch identifies the model behind the previously anonymous preview. The company uses the Space Bunny name for the early version and M3.1 Flash for the released model.
