Motive Launches Agents to Automate Fleet Maintenance and Safety Tasks

Customers can configure triggers and responses now. Motive plans plain-language workflow creation and agents that choose actions toward a fleet goal in early 2027.

Motive launched Agents on Oct. 19, giving fleet operators a way to set rules that automatically trigger maintenance, safety and compliance responses when specified conditions arise.

The feature is available to Motive customers. Fleet teams can build workflows through guided setup or templates, combining multiple triggers and actions. Customers decide which conditions the system monitors and what it does when those conditions are met.

For example, a qualifying vehicle fault code can generate a maintenance work order and mark the vehicle out of service. A separate workflow can flag excessive idling while taking outside temperature into account.

“Our customers don’t need another alert. They need action,” said Motive Chief Product Officer Hemant Banavar.

The current release carries out actions selected by fleet teams. In early 2027, Motive plans to let customers create workflows by describing them in plain language. It also plans agents that choose actions toward a customer-set goal, such as reducing collisions.
