Polygon has introduced CDK Besu, a toolkit for banks and other financial institutions to run permissioned private blockchains while linking assets with outside networks through Agglayer.

The system is built on Hyperledger Besu and uses QBFT consensus. Each institution can operate its validator nodes and set transaction permissions. Transaction data stays on the institution’s private infrastructure.

Cross-chain asset transfers use zero-knowledge proofs and settle on Ethereum. The product is ready for production deployment on Ethereum mainnet, and existing Besu networks can also connect to Agglayer.

The permissioned setup lets firms decide who can validate activity and which transactions are allowed. Agglayer connects these private networks with other blockchain networks, while Ethereum handles settlement for asset transfers. This gives institutions control over access to their chains alongside a route for moving assets between networks.
