Coinbase Names Five Index Perpetual Markets for AI Agents
The Oct. 19 market list also includes perpetual contracts on more than 20 crypto tokens. The five named index markets are available only in the United States.

Coinbase on Oct. 19 named five index perpetual futures markets and perpetual contracts on more than 20 tokens for AI agent trading, giving customers a fuller list of markets available through its service.
The index markets are US500, Tech100, AI10, China10 and Defense10. The five index contracts are available only in the United States.
Coinbase for Agents lets customers connect an outside AI platform to their Coinbase accounts. Claude, ChatGPT and Grok are among the platforms that can connect. An agent can research markets and carry out actions within the access a customer grants it.
The service launched June 11 with spot and derivatives trading. A Sept. 22 expansion added stock trading and payments for data and models. The latest market list extends earlier coverage of AI agent access to US500 by naming four other index markets.
Customers can choose which assets an agent may access, set spending limits and require approval for individual actions. These controls define the scope of an agent’s activity on a connected account.
Perpetual futures have no fixed expiration date and allow traders to take long or short positions without owning the underlying asset. Leverage can magnify losses, and a position may be liquidated if it no longer meets margin requirements. Funding payments can also affect the cost of keeping a position open.
An AI agent may make an error or fail while operating within its permissions. Those software risks sit alongside the trading risks of the perpetual contracts it can access.
