Absci Puts Antibody AI Speedup at 3x After AMD GPU Tuning
The company has acquired a cluster of AMD Instinct MI300X GPUs for Origin-3, its next antibody-design platform.

In Absci's benchmark, its AbsciBind antibody-design model ran three times as fast on AMD Instinct GPUs as its production version, addressing a demanding step in the company's research workflow.
Absci uses AbsciBind to assess how an antibody and an antigen fit together. Its tests also recorded comparable output quality. The speed and quality figures come from Absci's benchmark.
For the test, Absci configured an AMD Instinct environment to match its production setup in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Engineers from Absci and AMD then ran the same workloads under Absci's testing procedures. Their tuning focused on two calculations used by the model, using Triton software kernels on AMD's ROCm platform.
Absci has also acquired a cluster of AMD Instinct MI300X GPUs from Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for Origin-3, its next platform for structural biology and antibody design. The companies plan to continue work on future Instinct accelerators.
