fal's FLUX 3 Max Charts Put Seedance Speed Gap at 5.5x to 22x

fal recorded an average generation time of 12.45 seconds for a 10-second video, but its two charts list Seedance 2.5 at 277.80 and 69.09 seconds under the same stated conditions.

fal and Black Forest Labs launched FLUX 3 Max. Two benchmark charts give it an average generation time of 12.45 seconds for a 10-second video but show sharply different times for rival Seedance 2.5.

The launch chart listed Seedance 2.5 at an average of 277.80 seconds for a 10-second video, making FLUX 3 Max roughly 22 times faster in that comparison. A later chart kept FLUX 3 Max at 12.45 seconds but put Seedance at 69.09 seconds, narrowing the difference to about 5.5 times. Both charts specify 10-second, 16:9 clips at 720p or 768p. fal has not explained why the Seedance figure changed.

Other times moved as well: MiniMax H3 shifted from 83.26 seconds to 122 seconds, while the original FLUX 3 fell from 126.44 to 46.29 seconds.

Quality rankings show a close contest in image-to-video. In blind evaluations, FLUX 3 Max and Seedance 2.5 each scored 1,138 Elo points, just below MiniMax H3 at 1,140. The 95% confidence intervals for all three results overlap, so the scores do not establish a clear leader. In text-to-video, FLUX 3 Max placed fourth at 1,159 points, tied with third-place Seedance 2.5.

The Elo rating comes from repeated blind comparisons of two generated clips, with evaluators choosing which they prefer. Confidence intervals represent uncertainty around the scores; overlapping ranges leave the small point spread inconclusive. The earlier FLUX 3 scored 1,086 in image-to-video and 1,145 in text-to-video, putting Max 52 and 14 points higher in those rankings.

Black Forest Labs built FLUX 3. fal Research worked with Black Forest Labs to further train Black Forest Labs' FLUX 3 and optimize how it runs. The service offers video generation from text, images or keyframes, with keyframe workflows accepting up to 10 images to define moments in a clip. Supported outputs run five to 20 seconds at 720p, with optional upscaling to 1080p.

Pricing is based on each second of finished video. fal lists 720p output at $0.0425 per second until Nov. 7, down from a standard $0.17 rate. The listed API rates for MiniMax H3 and Seedance 2.5 are $0.09 and $0.41 per second, respectively, although the comparison covers different model settings and does not establish identical output specifications.
