Apple has scheduled a “Pro and tell” media event in Los Angeles on Oct. 28, giving a date to a showcase expected to feature its first touchscreen MacBook Pro.

The in-person event begins at 1 p.m. ET (17:00 UTC). Apple’s invitation does not identify any devices, so the expected lineup remains unannounced.

The touchscreen MacBook Pro is expected in 14-inch and 16-inch versions with organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays and M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. The screens would replace the current mini-LED displays, with Dynamic Island expected in place of the notch. Adding touch input would mark a change for the Mac, which has remained without a touchscreen while the iPhone and iPad use touch controls.

Other expected products include an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro and a 24-inch iMac with M6 chips, plus an OLED iPad mini. The iPad mini is also expected to move its front camera to the long edge and have redesigned speakers.

A previously listed product schedule placed those Mac and iPad models in a tentative Nov. 6 release slot. Apple’s Oct. 28 invitation confirms the event date, but does not establish when any product will go on sale.
