Notion Adds Browser Tools and 24-Hour Tasks to Its AI Agent

Notion’s tests found Auto produced results comparable to Opus 5.5 and Astra at about 90% lower average cost. The update also introduces monthly AI credits.

Notion announced an update to Notion Agent on Oct. 19 that adds browser and computer tools, extends task runtime to 24 hours and changes how the service selects and meters AI models. Notion Agent can now run a task for 24 hours, up from five minutes.

With browser access, the agent can open websites, fill out forms and download files. Its built-in computer can also run code and work with files. A new “Review for me” mode uses a separate AI model to check actions and asks users to approve ones it flags as potentially unsafe.

For longer tasks, Notion Agent can condense conversations and set aside large tool results. That reduces how much information the agent needs to process at each step.

Notion also upgraded Auto, which selects an AI model based on a task’s demands, speed and cost. In Notion’s tests across more than 20 common tasks, Auto produced results comparable to Opus 5.5 and Astra at about 90% lower average cost.

Members of Business and Enterprise workspaces can connect a ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go subscription to a personal Notion Agent. The subscription applies when a member selects a specific GPT model; Auto and Custom Agents do not use it. Enterprise customers have a separate option to connect a key from their own model provider, now in private alpha.

The new monthly credit system gives each Business and Enterprise seat 1,500 Standard credits for Auto and 500 Select credits for choosing a model or running a personal Custom Agent. The system took effect for new workspaces Oct. 19. Existing workspaces are scheduled to move to it Nov. 2.

Notion has enabled memory syncing through its connection for external AI agents. Support for skills through that connection is planned. Notion also plans an AI Command Center with usage reports, spending limits and access controls.
